Luke 3:15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not. Selma's tail was twitching as she sat in her parents' living room. She knew that her folks were going to give her something nice for her kitchen. She had been slowly building that kitchen in that once bare apartment. A microwave here, a hotplate there. Perhaps they might even give her a toaster oven. She was disappointed when all they gave her was a card. Opening, the card, she found a note that said "wait until you get home." Returning home several days later, Selma found that a complete kitchen had been installed while she was away. Parents like to give gifts to their children, and God is no exception. He delights in exceding our expectations. The people of Israel were expecting a great prophet for their messiah, or a military leader. He gave them a teacher, a friend, an advocate and a savior. This Christmas, let's thank God for exceding our expectations in the gift of His Son, Christ Jesus.
