Bigotry Luke 10:33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. Refu was the fiercest of the lions. He was nicknamed "The Hyena Slayer", for so he was. In his life, he had killed over a hundred hyenas. But even the fiercest lion is no match for a crazed elephant. When he was run down by a young bull elephant, maddened by heat, his body was soon still. It seemed certain that he was going to die. He would have, had not a lonbe female taken him in and nursed him back to health. He did not even know until two days later that the woman who saved him was a hyena. "Why did you save me?" asked Refu. "I have killed so many of your kind." "I saw neither a killer nor a lion." said the hyena. "I saw a badly injured animal in need of help." Refu no longer sought to battle hyenas after that. In this world of evil and sin, people will hate you for just about any reason. Your color, your speech, your size, your gender, your fashion sense, your intellect, even your furriness. The natural response is to fight back. In some cases, this is called for, but if we respond to hate with hate, all we do is perpetuate the hatred. Jesus told us to love our neighbors, even our enemies. By responding to evil with love, we might just take out an enemy by turning him into a friend. So when you find yourself the victim of hate, fight back with love. You might be surprised at the results.
