For the Christian Furry Fellowship

at St. Fred's

  1. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament were inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings, and are the sole authority for faith and practice. Further, we believe that God has preserved His word through reliable documents and translations through the ages.
  2. We believe in the triune God, one eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He is everything that God is, that all the attributes intrinsic to God are present in Him, limited only by His own voluntary restraint, and He is everything that man is, except sinful, that all the attributes assigned to man are present in Him, except the sinful nature.
  4. We believe in the physical resurrection of the Lord, His ascension, and His present activities as our High Priest and Advocate.
  5. We believe that Jesus Christ is the sole means of man's salvation and the sole mediator between God and man.
  6. We believe that God created man in His own image, he (man) sinned and thereby incurred death, both physical and spiritual, for himself and all humanity.
  7. We believe in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ as a propitiation for our sins, and that all who appropriate His finished work on the cross to their own lives are justified in the eyes of God. That all who accept Him as their Lord and saviour by faith are born again and become the children of God. All who believe in Jesus Christ are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, and are sealed by the Holy Spirit.
  8. We believe in the preservation of the saints, that there is no one or no thing which can separate the believer from Jesus Christ.
  9. We believe that the Church is God's vehicle for accomplishing His purpose on earth at this time. The purpose of the Church is two fold: to minister to the saints, and to evangelize the lost.
  10. Further, We hold to these elements of Ecclesiology, practices in the Church:
    1. Separation of Church and state*
    2. Soul Liberty (The recognition that every person is responsible for their own soul, and that no one may force or deny their salvation)
    3. The Lord's supper being an ordinance and not a sacrament**
    4. Autonomy of the local Church
    5. Priesthood of the believer***
  11. We believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell, both the eternal dwelling place of humanity, heaven for the believer and hell for the lost.
  12. We believe that our Lord, Jesus Christ, has commissioned the Church and its individual members to spread the Gospel of Salvation to a dying world.
* (J1) Neither does the other's job
** (J3) This is to say that we do not believe that the act of communion has the power to save one's soul. We practice this ritual because the Lord has commanded it as a memorial of His sacrifice.
*** (J5) Can pray directly to God
